Kuku Tally, for poultry farmers

Every bird, egg and shilling counted. Even on a farm with no network.

The farm book on your phone: the daily card, eggs, feed, deaths, vaccines, sales and the profit on each batch. For layers, broilers and kienyeji.

  • Layers, broilers and kienyeji
  • Works with no network
  • Several workers, one farm
Kuku Tally on a phone: today's eggs, the lay rate, deaths today and the days of feed left on a layers farm.

The daily card: one minute at the end of the day

One screen for each batch, the same fields every evening. Yesterday's feed and prices are already filled in, so on most days you only type the eggs.

  • Eggs in trays and pieces: 7 trays and 28 eggs, not a long number to add up.
  • Feed in kilograms, water in litres and the birds that died today.
  • A weigh-in when you want one, for broilers on their way to market weight.
  • Missed a day? Pick the date and fill it in later.

A layers farm in Mukono, on a Tuesday evening

One batch of 305 hens in their laying months. Here is what the daily card turns into.

Hens

Eggs today

The workers collect eggs morning and afternoon and fill in the card at six. Once their phone finds a network, the card reaches the owner's phone in town. Kuku Tally has already worked out the lay rate, warned that the feed runs out in about six days, and listed the Newcastle booster that is due for the young batch.

On Saturday a trader takes 20 trays at UGX 12,000 and pays half. The sale goes into the egg store and the customer's account, and the other UGX 120,000 is waiting there for the day he comes back.

The profit on each batch, not a guess

Each expense can belong to a batch: feed, drugs and vaccines, labour, transport. Kuku Tally sets them against what that batch sold.

  • Income, costs and profit for each batch, with the margin, the cost per tray and the cost per bird.
  • The feed conversion ratio for broilers, and the cost per kilogram of meat, after two weigh-ins.
  • The lay rate every day, from the eggs on the daily card and the birds still alive.
  • Your records as tables: copy sales, expenses and daily cards out as CSV, for Excel or Google Sheets.
Kuku Tally reports: income, costs and profit for each batch, and a summary for the farm.

No network on the farm. Keep recording.

Kuku Tally saves every record on the phone first and sends it when the phone finds a network. Nothing is typed twice.

  • Saved at once. Every card, sale and death is on the phone the moment you tap save.
  • You see what is waiting. A cloud icon counts the records the phone has not sent yet.
  • Several workers, one farm. Each worker records on their own phone, and the records meet on the server.
  • Who entered what. Every record keeps the name of the person who entered it.

What farmers ask us first

Something else on your mind? Ask us.

Several workers record on different phones. Does that work?

Yes. Give each worker their own login on their own phone. The phones join their records once each has synced, and every record keeps the name of the person who entered it. A batch has one daily card a day, so agree who fills in the card for each batch.

There is no network on the farm. Will it still work?

Yes. Everything is saved on the phone first. A cloud icon shows how many records are waiting, and they are sent the next time the phone finds a network, at the trading centre or in town. Nothing is typed twice.

Is it for broilers or layers?

Both, and kienyeji too. Layers and kienyeji get the egg fields, the lay rate and the cost per tray. Broilers skip the eggs and get weigh-ins, the feed conversion ratio (FCR) after two weigh-ins and the cost per kg of meat. Each type has its own vaccination plan and guide.

Can I export my records for the bank or a SACCO?

Partly. The reports screen shows the income, costs and profit of every batch, which is what a loan officer asks about first. You can copy your sales, expenses and daily records out as CSV tables, which open in Excel or Google Sheets. A ready PDF report for the bank is not built yet.

Does it remind me about vaccinations?

The dashboard lists the vaccinations that are due or overdue, worked out from each batch's age, and you mark each one done with a tap. Tasks from the guide can also remind you with a notification on the phone where they were set.

Can I see the farm on a computer?

Yes, as plain lists that you can check and correct in the web screens, with the same account. The dashboard, the warnings and the reports are in the phone app.

Can I pay by the year?

Yes. Pay monthly or yearly by card, or by mobile money where your country has it, from inside your account. You can change plan at any time.
